Balanced Super Mods (1.0) - File Description

Description:
Quote:
Using HMT 3.5 and a little bit of Sparkedit I made some simple mods. These mods are experiments for a super mod I wish to make in which every weapon would seem like a super weapon (obviously). Many of the weapons here will be used. These are the tests and experiments. They are also fun simple skirmish maps.

In order for any of the maps to work right it is HIGHLY advised you use the inclued custom gametypes. Or else your game will not be very enjoyable.

This is basically another weapons projectile edit mod.

I always find these types of mod really difficult to review for some reason. I am not entirely sure why.

Anyway, I only had time to briefly go through these map edits (Blood Gulch, Hang Em High, and Wizard), and they seem to be fairly solid edits. I can now actually fly a Banshee with a mouse (yippie stick out tongue ), lol!

The readme and above description pretty much cover what is in this mod. I would have liked for the author, Murry_Folt, to have included some screenshots for this listing, even though nothing visually is different from the original map files, vehicles or weapons. Unfortunatly, that won't stop people posting in the comments something along the lines of "OMG no screenies = no DLs!!!", which is a shame as that tends to bring down ratings somewhat.

In either case, there is no harm in giving these edits a go.

Balanced Super Mods (1.0) - Readme
Readme File:
These are some simple mods I made in my spare time.

They each work with a specific gametype I made (because I only modded the weapons and vehicles the gametypes allow)

Installation:

Replace the original .map files with mine (MAKE SURE YOU BACK THEM UP FIRST!!!).

Add my custom gametypes to your My GamesHalosavegames folder. No need to back up, since you're not replacing anything. (Gametypes are only necessary for better balance. If you do not want my gametypes, then make your own that follow the basic requirements for each mod)

Unistall:

Replace modded .map files with your backed up originals (you backed them up, right?)

Delete my custom gametypes (Anti-Air, Pistol Battle, Close Quarters)

Mod 1: Anti-Air Gulch.

As the name should suggest, the map is bloodgulch and the gametype is Anti-Air.

I made the banshee bolt shoot a lot faster, more accurately, and have longer range. It's fuel rod blast is now homing, and has no arc.

The Rocket Launcher missle is faster, does more damage, and homing. Otherwise, fires same as before.

The Rocket Warthog (Rhog as I call it) does not need to reload, but instead has a slow fire rate (0.5 I believe). It fires ten homing missles each, but they do not lock on nearly as easily as the Rocket Launcher.

All the grenades have been replaced with Master Chiefs (I call them duds now). They are used as decoys, and are great at diverting any homing weapons. Just make sure you don't fill up the map with to many duds. You'll never hit anyone you want.

Unfortunately, the gametype does not allow more than four vehicles of each type. I have over 20 banshees and about 8 rhogs, but only 4 of each will spawn. I'm trying to fix this (hex editing is hard), so if anyone else has a fix, I would like to know.

Mod 2: Fast Paced Hang 'em High

This map works with best with a gametype that spawns only short range weapons (such as the one I made just for this map, called "Close Quarters") and half health with no shields. My inclued gametype should be just fine.

The shotgun shoots over triple the amount of pellets (15 to 50), has more spread, but a shorter firing range (to prevent it from being to awesome). Oh, and each shot takes two ammo, so you really have only six shots even though it shows twelve.

The Assault rifle shoots much slower (15 down to 4.5), does more damage, can zoom (2x-6x), and is far more accurate. It is a medium range sniper now. And each shot takes two ammo, so you only got thirty shots.

The Plasma rifle has zoom (4x) and shoots at a very high rate (whatever default was is now 25), and is a very quick killer. Beware though, it can only fire a few seconds before overheating (I was to lazy to fix this). Fire sparingly, it is incredibly accurate (I removed most, if not all, spread).

The Needler is more of a homing alien shot gun now. It fires about 15 projectiles each shot, and each can home. It can only shoot about half way across the map, or less, so make sure you're close. Since it takes the needles a second to explode, the person you shot can still kill you before they die.

The grenades do more damage and have a much larger explosive radius (plasma 15 and frag 12, defaults were about 6 from what I remember)

Mod 3: Pistol Wizard

It may be sorta obvious with this to, but the map is Wizard and the gametype is Pistol Battle. Any gametype that spawns only pistols should work just fine though.

The pistol has no zoom, 34 ammo, and fires at a rate of 20 (instead of the defaulth 2.4 or whatever). Very fun.

The plasma pistol does loads more damage in every way. It's normal bolts have homing, and it's charged bolt can easily kill someone with normal health and shields in one hit. It walso has real great homing.

Grenades are unedited. They seemed to work just fine, so I didn't bother.

You can use these mods for whatever, just give credit to me (Murry Folt)
